Methodology and limitations

CountyPulse collects resident-reported information about shopping trips, dining trips, service needs, and local business preferences in Otero County, New Mexico.

What is collected

  • Respondent connection to Otero County
  • General home area and optional ZIP code
  • Primary unmet retail or restaurant category
  • Typical destination for that purchase
  • Approximate trip or order frequency
  • Self-reported spending range
  • Likelihood of using a local alternative
  • Requested businesses or service types
  • Optional contact information for pilot updates

How findings are presented

CountyPulse summarizes submissions in aggregate. Findings may include category rankings, destination trends, spending-range patterns, stated local-use likelihood, and geographic patterns when enough responses exist to avoid presenting overly narrow data.

What the findings mean

The results identify resident-reported unmet demand patterns and out-of-county shopping behavior among participating respondents. They are intended to help local stakeholders identify categories that may deserve deeper market analysis or recruitment attention.

What the findings do not mean

This pilot is not an audited retail leakage study, a statistically representative countywide consumer expenditure analysis, a site-selection approval, or a guarantee that any specific business would succeed locally.

Privacy approach

Responses are reported in aggregate. Optional contact information is collected only for pilot updates or future voluntary follow-up and is not included in public results.
